MEDIA ADVISORY: Madam Walker Legacy Center to unveil Memorial Way Marker and share 2023 – 2027 strategic plan vision

Residents and community members are invited to the Open House to celebrate history and heritage while learning about the future

INDIANAPOLIS — This Friday, the Madam Walker Legacy Center will host an unveiling event for Madam Walker Memorial Way on the iconic Indiana Avenue. During the event program, organization leaders will also share the vision outlined in the 2023 – 2027 strategic plan for the Legacy Center.  

The open house event will provide an opportunity for the community to explore the Walker Theatre and hear about the importance of the cultural institute which anchors the Indiana Avenue corridor. Media are invited to attend, and the Madam Walker Legacy Center President, Kristian Little Stricklen, will be available for interviews following the program.

 

WHAT: Madam Walker Memorial Way Street Dedication

 

WHEN: Friday, October 20th from 5:30 – 9 p.m. 

5:30 p.m.: Madam C.J. Walker Memorial Way – Street Dedication

5:50 p.m.: Indiana Ave. Tour & Talkback with Through2Eyes Tours

6 p.m.: Art on the Ave Reception

7 p.m.: Remarks from artist Kevin Nance-West

 

WHERE: Madam Walker Legacy Center: 617 Indiana Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46202

There will be ample parking in the larger lot just west of the building and north of 632 MLK Apartment Complex.
